Natasha Kissell's work plays with pictorial conventions and art historical images embedded in our collective consciousness. Turning these conventions on their heads, she humorously sneaks in paraphernalia from modern life such as a modernist house or trappings of new age technology– to comment on our expectations of Romantic imagery and its use in contemporary culture. Without ever introducing any human figures, Natasha Kissell’s works introduce very human feelings – romance, fear, excitement and wonder. These paintings will be on show at the Volta Art Fair beginning March 3rd 2011
